Restoration of Kind Drinker Automaton "Before"

This is a close up of the wood carved automaton figure of King Gambrinus. He is shown in this photo as he arrived to us. You can see the arm holding the large beer was broken, and the finish was very tired from years of coal fires, and cigarette smoke. At some point in his life a previous owner painted a clear finish over the king that did not age well.

The kings arm was carefully restored back into place. The king was then brought to our art conservator who carefully removed the years of grime and buildup, protecting the original paint…bringing him back to life which preserving its originality.
